Read through Gen 13,14:1-16; 18:16-19:30 (story of Lot)
Lot is Abram/Abraham's nephew. Lot chose the lush looking land, when he and Abram separated. The land where Lot lived (Sodom and Gomorrah) was invaded and Lot was taken captive. Abram and his trained servants attacked and brought back Lot and all the goods/people that were taken. Lot returned to his land (full of wickedness), however God was going to destroy it. God did not hide His intentions from Abraham, and Abraham interceded. God showed His mercy towards Lot by sending two angels to rescue Lot and his family from the coming destruction.
In both of these instances, it was Abram/Abraham who stood in the gap and rescued Lot.
We have family members, who were serving the Lord, but chose to go and live in the world. And they have come back to the Lord, but then have been drawn into the world's ways again (by partaking in, desiring worldly goods, or by tolerating what occurs around them).
Prayed...
We are standing in the gap for their return to the Lord and a complete transformation.
God is a merciful God who desires all come to repentance and be saved.
