Guest Speaker: Mike Sparrow

Mike Sparrow came to the Lord in 1977 through the Jesus People Movement at Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa, California. Jan was a beach girl, walking around in her bib overhauls with an embroidered fish on the pocket. Mike got hooked and they married in 1981. They moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and joined the Heart of the Bay Church, where they were trained and discipled by Pastors Mark and Brenda Thomas. The Sparrows served in various capacities at the church.

In 1986, Mike became a youth pastor at Agape Church in San Luis Obispo and remained on pastoral staff until 2024. In 2012, he was appointed as the Southwest Regional Director for AFCM, where he worked with the Executive Support Team and the Missions Director on various projects and conferences.

In 2024, Mike was asked to step into an Executive Director role as Dr. Jim Kaseman’s Associate Pastor. He has started traveling and supporting the other regional directors as the team is restructuring and renewing the plans and purposes of AFCM.

Mike and Jan have three grown children and seven grandchildren, all serving the Lord!
