Spiritual adultery is a biblical metaphor for unfaithfulness to God, occurring when believers prioritize worldly desires, false gods, or self-interest over their devotion to Christ. It signifies a violated covenant, where the heart’s affection is given to worldly systems rather than God.

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that friendship with the world is enmity with God…? — James 4:4

Proverbs 19:3 TPT
There are some people who ruin their own lives and then blame it all on God.

Proverbs 5:21-23 TPT
For God sees everything you do and his eyes are wide open as he observes every single habit you have. [22] Beware that your sins don’t overtake you and that the scars of your own conscience don’t become the ropes that tie you up. [23] Those who choose wickedness die for lack of self-control, for their foolish ways lead them astray, carrying them away as hostages— kidnapped captives robbed of destiny.

Proverbs 15:31-32 TPT
Accepting constructive criticism opens your heart to the path of life, making you right at home among the wise. [32] Refusing constructive criticism shows you have no interest in improving your life, for revelation-insight only comes as you accept correction and the wisdom that it brings.

James 4:8 AMPC
Come close to God and He will come close to you. [Recognize that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean; [realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts [of your spiritual adultery].
