The following was taught and prayed through during our 9:30 a.m. family prayer time with Sue DeGroot

Jeremiah 1:11-12 AMP
The word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see the branch of an almond tree.” [12] Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am [actively] watching over My word to fulfill it.”

Isaiah 55:11 AMP
So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (useless, without result), Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

II Corinthians 4:13 NKJV
And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak,

Mark 11:22-25 NKJV
So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. [23] For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. [24] Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. [25] “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.

The prophetic word for the Hebrew year 5786 (beginning at sundown on September 22, 2025, with Rosh Hashanah) is sobering and timely: Tread Lightly With Your Words.

We are in the decade of the mouth (5780–5789), connected to the Hebrew letter Pey (פ). This decade emphasizes the power of words: prayer, prophecy, declaration, and the weight of what comes out of our mouths.

Within that decade, 5786 is called the year of the Hook, tied to the Hebrew letter Vav (ו). Vav means hook or nail. It represents connection… joining heaven and earth, linking people together, like the hook of a fisherman, as in Jesus’ words: “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19).

Together, these truths carry a strong call for this year: Your mouth is your hook. What you speak will either gather people into God’s kingdom or scatter them further away.

The hook is not for arguments or tearing down, but for reaching out. It is for evangelism, for reconciliation, for gathering people when everything else tries to scatter them. Expect both opportunities to win hearts and moments of spiritual battle. The same hook God gives us for harvest will also be used to confront forces that try to divide and destroy.

5786 / 2026 is a year to tread lightly with your words. Choose speech that heals, not divides. Choose to build, not tear down. Walk in intimacy with God, and you will see barren places blossom into new life.

In Hebrew, numbers also function as letters, each with its own meaning. Together, they give more depth to the year 5786:

Yod (10): The hand or arm of God. It speaks of His presence, His work, and completeness.

Kaf (20): The palm. It symbolizes blessing, provision, and receiving what God gives.

Vav (6): A hook or nail. It points to connection. Heaven and earth joined. And also to the hook of evangelism: fishers of men.

The ancient sages observe that the written form of the letter 8/Pey contains a smaller, hidden letter within its structure: the letter Bet (heart).

Bet means “House” or “Home.”
This is a profound prophetic insight: The Mouth (Pey) speaks what is in the House (Bet).

Examine Your Bet (Heart): Clean out the contamination of fear, cynicism, and unforgiveness. Let your private house be holy.

Activate Your Pey (Mouth): From the foundation of the finished work (Vav), speak clarity where there is confusion. Speak life where there is death. Speak abundance where there is lack.

Be the Vav (Connector): Step into your role as the intercessor, binding Heaven to Earth with your spoken word.
